Assignments
Final grades will be based on the following assignments. Detailed assignment pages will be added to this blog for each assignment during the semester.
25% Blog
Each student will maintain a blog on a topic of his/her choice and post to it weekly.
30% Homepage/Web site design
This assignment will consist of two parts: a brief exploration of HTML through the creation of a “homepage,” and an in-depth proposal for a web site that includes storyboards (that is, you will not be actually composing the site digitally, but will be presenting a written and storyboarded proposal for a site.)
25% Rhetorical/critical analysis
Each student will choose a web site or blog and compose a written analysis of it.
30% Sound Project
This project can take many forms from an audio essay or interview to a musical performance or audio lesson for music or language instruction.
15% Participation, readings, forum posts
Participation is not the same as attendance, but is not limited to simply talking in class. For example, participation can include taking notes for group activities or responding thoughtfully to class discussion/readings on this blog or in forum posts. But…poor attendance can negatively affect your grade. Please see the “Policies” page for more details.
